Main platform elements include the BigFix Console providing user interface and a base for managing BigFix content and functionality, BigFix Relays to streamline and optimize BigFix-related communications. What's New in Discovery 7

BigFix Discovery 7 Platform is largely more of the same—and that’s a good thing. We didn’t fix what wasn’t broke and added some new features at customer request. New facilities include:

 

  • Fault Tolerance and Business Continuity—Customers can implement solutions with multiple BigFix Consoles and Servers. The additional Servers can be configured as back-up resources that can take over BigFix Console workloads should the Primary BigFix Server go off-line
  • Multi-Tenancy—Enhanced abilities to partition BigFix solutions to support multiple constituencies without compromising confidentiality or end-user agendas. This makes it easier for managed service providers and outsourcers to mobilize BigFix as a service delivery platform
  • Virtualization Support—BigFix Discovery 7 Platform adds support for the VMWare EXS Server 3 hypervisor
  • User Offers—Options to enable end-users to accept, reject or optimally schedule updates and software distributions
  • Remote Control—Bring BigFix to the helpdesk with interactive abilities to give end users a helping hand in diagnosing and resolving trouble ticket issues
